Southampton's Doughnut Day
Thursday 07 November 2024
17:30 to 18:30
We've known for a while that the capitalist economy isn't working for the common good, but what is the alternative? Doughnut Economics offers news ways of thinking about economics that people around the world are experimenting with. Global Donut Days 2024 is a global showcase of all this activity.
This year Southampton is joining in the celebrations!
What's happening:
We've kindly been given space to show our film, Local is the New Global, just before the Future Cities Film Screening and Discussion.
Join us at 1730 GMT for the film screening and an opportunity to chat about transforming local prosperity and action on the climate.
If you can attend all the films, please reserve a spot using the UoS Festival Eventbrite page and come along at 1730
If you only want to attend the 1730 screening of Local is the New Global, Reserve a spot here
About the film:
Local is the New Global considers how Southampton can build an economy fit for the 21st century.
Combining conversations about Doughnut Economics and Community Wealth Building, this film shows a pathway to a thriving city which doesn't break the planetary boundaries.
Our thanks to Southampton City Council - Southampton Pound, Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, Centre for the South, University of Southampton, Southampton Collective, Transition Southampton and other anonymous donors for their support for this event.
And our grateful thanks to Paul Maple, who made this film.
