Wednesday 25 May 2022
19:00 to 20:30

Join Transition Southampton in the shop for this talk - we commence at 7pm, see you there!

Modern Wind energy - a 40 year local and global story. Come and join us and Mark Hancock, our local wind turbine designer, the about our 40 year local story and the global story of wind energy. Mark will talk about how a striving for clean energy in Southampton in late 1970's with a local industry growing from a shed led to a significant local employer and global influence in the design, testing and manufacture of wind turbine blades.

Mark is an engineer who has seen the many up & downs (& finally 'ups'!) of the industry. There will also be lots of time for questions on the history or the technology, economics and viability of the industry today.

Transition Southampton believes in a positive, sustainable, community imagined future. They work with local communities, organisations and local governments to create positive, sustainable, community-based solutions that tackle climate change and energy scarcity.
